We wish Dr. Talburt (Black Oak’s Chief Science Officer) well as he flies overseas to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town, South Africa. From February 22 to 26th, Talburt is attending an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) meeting on developing the ISO 8000 Data Quality Standards. As a board member, he is representing the United States for the Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA).
The primary topic is the ISO 8000-060 series of standards for defining data quality maturity assessment, the convener is Dr. Timothy King from the UK. Other countries heavily involved in this process include South Korea, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.
On Wednesday the 24th Pilog, a South African Company and friends of Black Oak, will be hosting an “Industry Day” where companies will share their implementations plans for the ISO 8000 DQ standards. Dr. Talburt will be presenting at two different sessions, “Alignment of ISO 8000 Part 60 Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) with MIT TDQM and Six Sigma using an Entity Resolution Example.” And “Industry Example of a Customer Communication and Preference Governance System based on ISO 8000” in collaboration with Pilog.
This will be an exciting week and we are proud of Dr. Talburt for representing the United States in the international discussion about Data Quality Standards.
